The accreditation is valid from 1 August 2026 to 31 July 2032 recognising the programme’s quality and alignment with international project management standards. It marks an important milestone for project management education in Bulgaria and strengthens the connection between academic learning and professional practice. UNWE becomes the first educational institution in Bulgaria to receive this accreditation.
For students, the accreditation reinforces the value of education aligned with internationally recognised project management standards and supports the development of essential competencies, including leadership, communication, teamwork, risk management, and adaptability.
It may also provide additional opportunities related to certain PMI certification pathways, subject to the applicable eligibility requirements.
“The accreditation is an international recognition of the quality of project management education provided by UNWE. PMI Bulgaria’s role begins where academic education meets professional development – helping students turn knowledge into real-world experience and start building their professional journey even before they graduate,” said Aneliya Chervenova, President of PMI Bulgaria Chapter.
“To me, one of the biggest advantages of the accreditation is simple: time. Students can start building their project management careers earlier and get closer to professional certification, including PMP®, while still at university. The accreditation also gives them a stronger connection to the PMI community, professional resources, practical initiatives and people working in the field,” said Petya Dorovska, Vice President, Professional Development and Academic Outreach at PMI Bulgaria Chapter.
The collaboration between UNWE and PMI Bulgaria Chapter extends beyond the classroom. Through hackathons, masterclasses, and events with international participation, students can explore real-world challenges, exchange ideas with experienced professionals, and build valuable industry connections.
Topics such as artificial intelligence, change management, risk management, and climate change highlight the growing relevance of project management across industries.
PMI Bulgaria Chapter believes that a strong professional community is built through collaboration, mentoring, and knowledge sharing. Partnerships between universities, businesses, and practising professionals help prepare future project managers for the realities of the profession while fostering innovation and continuous development.
We congratulate UNWE and the academic team behind the Master’s Programme in International Project Management on this significant achievement. PMI Bulgaria Chapter remains committed to supporting initiatives that connect education with practice, create opportunities for mentoring and knowledge exchange, nurture emerging talent, and advance the project management profession in Bulgaria.
